Week 8 – MBA 6601 – Where to start learning AI?
(OpenAI, 2024)
There
are many options that an individual has to start learning about AI. However,
before this can occur, there are a few things that need to be started. The
first is adapting to artificial intelligence. You have to keep up with, what is
happening in the AI world. To keep track of AI, one needs to create good habits
to track AI (Kelsey, 2018, p.168). This is important because AI constantly
evolves, and new things are being developed. The next step is adopting AI, such
as using platforms or software that has AI capabilities (Kelsey, 2018, p.168).
It is important to understand how AI can help you become more efficient with
your work, so you can focus on more important tasks. With the combination of
these two, an individual might want to become adept with AI. Learning about all
the new findings of AI and using AI to help with your workload may give you an
idea of ways to use AI in your business or personal life.
If
you have created good habits in keeping track of AI trends/news and have some
experience with it, but now you want to be adept with AI. The individual has a
lot of options for learning AI. However, before they start learning about AI,
there are core concepts they will need to learn. For example, an individual
will need to know coding, data science, machine learning, and math (Kelsey,
2018). These are great areas to begin learning AI. Kelsey (2018) believes that
learning AI through courses is the best way to learn AI (p. 170). This is a
great method if you need a structured lesson plan to learn about AI core
skills. You can take these courses at a community college or university.
However, taking courses can be a large commitment and will cost individual time
and resources to attend these courses. If the individual does not have the
funds and time for these courses, they can also read books, and use free online
courses, and YouTube videos (Kelsey, 2018). Although these may not give a
certificate or degree in AI, it is a great alternative to begin learning AI.
The certificate/degree can be earned at a later point in time when you can take
courses. Overall, there are many resources available to learn about AI. If you
are not interested in AI, you can still apply this method to things that you
are interested in.
